The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 440

“You know?” she asked with slight panic in her eyes.

Zi Han rested his fingers on his forehead and replied simply, “En.”

Nathan felt anxious thus he tugged at his sister’s sleeve and mouthed, “Sister, what do we do?”

Nayeli bit her lip and glanced at the vast desert caught between a rock and a hard place. For a long time, she didn’t speak making Nathan flustered.

Zi Han didn’t say anything. He waited patiently for her to speak. After ten minutes she finally stopped the hovercraft landing it on a tall sand dune and pushing the hangar door open.

Zi Han’s brow arched as he stared at her through the gaps between his fingers. Nayeli pointed in another direction and said, “Kengston city is that way. If you walk for four days you will reach it. The only way we are sending you there is if you come with us first and save our mother. After that, we will send you there. If you don’t like the arrangement then you walk there,” and Nathan was a little surprised.

He didn’t think his sister would shamelessly continue with this plan despite the fact that this big brother gave them tasty food, killed the bad guys obliterated their bodies into nothing, and fixed the broken hovercraft. Didn’t they seem ungrateful if they ask him to do this? Nathan opened his mouth to speak but Nayeli lifted her finger and said, “You, keep your mouth shut. What will it be?”

Zi Han could care less about her attitude. He wanted to get to Kengston city as soon as possible but he also wanted to help these children get their mother back. It’s too bad Nayeli didn’t know how to ask for help. She would rather resort to threats than ask for help.

.....

“Really... so you don’t plan to hand me over to the ravagers in exchange for your mother?” he asked surrounded by a calm and collected air like he wasn’t exposing a ploy against himself.

Nayeli gulped unconsciously trying to maintain her expression like her deep thoughts weren’t exposed. If he couldn’t or wouldn’t help them break into the ravagers’ stronghold and save their mother, she still planned to exchange him.

People’s ethics and morals in this place were so messed up that kindness was treated like blackmail. That small act of kindness would mean that person had a hold on you and it had to be repaid.

“I...,” she said only for Nathan to call out,

“Sister. Mother wouldn’t want this.”

Zi Han stood up and with domineering cold air around him, he stepped out of the hovercraft. His vow as the Bloodgarde was to protect and serve the weak but that didn’t mean that he should be met with this kind of attitude.

Zi Han stretched out his sore muscles and began to walk into the desert his steps leisurely like he was taking a stroll.

He knew he could perform like a miniature space jump and be there in seconds but from what he knew about this place the man who attacked the Federation would take notice of the fluctuations in energy thus he could only resort to either walking or hitching a ride.

“Welp, it’s just you and me Iggy. I need to figure out a way to fix you and maybe I will transform you into a crappy-looking hovercraft,” muttered Zi Han to himself.

Igneous who could hear everything but just couldn’t communicate with Zi Han, “...”

“Sister... please... This isn’t the way to ask for help,” whispered Nathan tugging at her clothes.

Nayeli also knew this but that would mean they would owe him.

How were they meant to repay that kind of debt? It was too expensive for them but she really needed to get her mother back thus she could only swallow her emotions down.

She clenched her fist tightly before rushing forward and kneeling before Zi Han. Her eyes tightly shut she said, “I need your help... please.”

Zi Han was a little startled. He took a step back and stared down at the young woman lowering her head.

“There is no need for that. I will help you. All you had to do was ask for help,” he said and the girl raised her head looking at him with her teary eyes.

Zi Han twirled his finger a little mortified. “Don’t... don’t do all that. I already said it’s fine. You don’t have to look so pitiful,” he said preferring the haughty version of herself over the pathetic one.

“Let’s go quickly. I really have someone waiting for me,” he said before turning to walk back.

Nayeli hastily got up and dusted the sand off her knees before saying, “Wait you can’t go wearing that people wi-.”

Her voice was cut off when she witnessed with her own eyes Zi Han’s clothes transformed to match the ones her brother wore except they were of a different color.

Zi Han walked back into the hovercraft dazzling the two siblings. He was clad like the poorest of the people in the Republic but he looked noble in them like he was meant to sit on the highest throne with Stor F?niks.

This thought made Nayeli’s steps pause as her brows creased staring at that figure sitting in the hovercraft with a complicated expression. Had they just stumbled upon a god?

Zi Han was no god. He was just a man born from a gifted family line and he was here to get his man back a man who was meant to be in Kengston city. Well, he was in Kengston city but from the looks of it, he had no memory whatsoever. He didn’t know who he was, why he was here, or where he came from.
