Military System In Isekai Of Magic

Chapter 28 Chasing

As he charged after them, Xzavier flirted with the idea of launching an RPG at them with his rocket launcher. No doubt, it would make his work easier.

But that would have been too easy, Xzavier wanted to hunt them down and watch the light go out in their eyes as he snatched their soul like a death god with the cold end of his steel. He thought of the perfect weapon for this particular hunt, and decided to go with the AR-15.

It was the perfect automatic rifle that was built for close and mid range killings. It was also perfect because it had an inbuilt silencer. So the AR-15 could talk in the dark without being seen or heard.

He picked it out of the duffel bag and slang it over his shoulder. He stuffed five clips of live ammunition into his combat trousers and charged after the five cowardly orcs.

As his boots touched down on the earth with each step, not one single sound was made. Xzavier was in no great hurry. Orcs were not built for running long distances so he knew that they would soon burn out.

He switched to infra red display as he marched through the woods clutching his rifle in both hands.

The skimping images of the orcs soon came into the full view in Xzavier\'s night vision goggles just ahead. Xzavier\'s predictions had been right after all. Their strides were starting to slow down as they fought to put as much distance between them and the invisible enemy closing in behind them.

As Xzavier watched the orcs struggle to get away from him. He noticed one other thing.

"Wow, these are some really dumb creatures! How is it that are they still together?"

Xzavier wasn\'t exactly thinking about how good their sense of comradery was. In fact, it was the polar opposite! It made no sense whatsoever that they had chosen to band together in flight.

The most sensible thing to do at the time was to split up! This would greatly increase their chances of escaping and at the same time, make it harder for their pursuer to capture and kill them. By all count, it seemed that they lacked the basic intelligence that came with ensuring individual survival.

Xzavier was stunned by their complete and utter lack of tactfulness. Their abandonment of simple logic told him all the needed to know about their level of intelligence.

Just a short while ago, as they surrounded their victim in preparation of the serial raping to follow, Xzavier had observed a certain cohesiveness in them.

At the time, it suggested that they were more than just beasts, the sinister way in which they had teased their prey made it seem like they were also adept at psychological warfare.

But it turned out that Xzavier had been completely wrong. Their intelligence couldn\'t possibly be compared with that of humans.

Xzavier didn\'t dwell too much on the foolhardiness of the orcs fleeing before him. Either way, he was determined to use their tactless and thoughtless nature to his advantage.

He had to finish them off now that they were still together. He also recognized one factor that was glaring; the fact that they stuck close to each other as they ran suggested the fact that they were extremely terrified.

And because of their terror, they sought the false comfort that came with being surrounded by their own kind.

At this point, Xzavier was practically one with his AR-15. With his right Forefinger clutching the trigger, and his left hand holding on to the outstretched end of the weapon, Xzavier forged ahead through the woods with a confident stride and with the intense aura of a killer on the hunt.

It was still pretty dark, so he had on his night vision goggles that gave him a pretty good image of the orcs scuttling ahead of him. As Xzavier had anticipated, the orcs began to slow down.

Their stamina wasn\'t built for fleeing so they stumbled and fell as they struggled to keep up with their original pace.

Xzavier gained in on them without any hassle. Soon enough, the back of the orc in the vanguard came into his orbit. He chuckled to himself as he lifted up his weapon to take aim;

"I\'ve got you now you vile creature!"

The last orc behind them all struggled to keep up with the others. Clearly he was the weakest and the most terrified. He kept stumbling and falling and stumbling and falling in his bid to match the long strides of his superiors before him.

Xzavier watched with malicious glee and the orc struggled desperately to stay on his feet. But alas, it was his time to go and Xzavier had no pity for it.

Xzavier made no move to mask his presence. In fact, it was his hope that they would sense him coming and burn hotter with the cold smoldering flame of despair. He lifted his rifle to his eye line and aimed at the last orc.

By some cosmic chance, the orc fell again. It was almost as if some divine hand was wearing it down to be killed by the heartless assassin behind. As it struggled to get up, Xzavier squeezed his trigger.

The bullet silently flew through the rustling leaves and struck the unfortunate creature at the back of its neck. Like an animal caught in a trap, it yelped and slumped to the ground never to rise up again.

The other orcs ahead of it were way too concerned about their own survival that they didn\'t hear or notice when their comrade fell. Even if they had heard, it wouldn\'t have made any difference. They tore through the woods in the darkness with the wind rushing past their ears and the rustling leaves brushing against their skin that had been dampened by dew.

Xzavier\'s cold black form loomed over the bleeding corpse of the orc he had just killed. He looked at it, hesitated for a bit, and then shot it twice through the head again.

"Can\'t take any chances with these damn things. You\'d better stay dead your ugly bastard."

Satisfied, Xzavier pressed on to the others. In no time, he came up behind the already fatigued orcs. Xzavier knew that right new, they were running on fumes. To the orcs, it felt like they had been running for seven days. Their lungs were devoid of rest. And yet, their fear of death spurred them on.

Xzavier lifted up the cold steel of his rifle, and in the same manner, he eliminated two of the remaining four orcs.

Each time, Xzavier made sure to pump their dead bodies with live ammunition. He sprayed bullets at their heads and made sure to splatter their skulls so much so that they would be unrecognizable.

It wasn\'t just for killing sake, it was a premeditated move. In the future, Xzavier wanted any other orc that chanced on their decaying corpses to wonder and be afraid.

He wanted them to be aware that there was a predator out there who enjoyed decimating them and their kind. He wanted them to know fear for the first time. Xzavier wanted them to know that he was coming for them.

These were his thoughts as he emptied entire clips of live ammunition all over the dead bodies of the corpses.

Having killed off the other orcs, Xzavier was confident in the fact that if he continued in this same manner, the other two would be finished way before sunrise. After killing the third to the last orc, Xzavier turned in the direction of the other two.
